Support & FAQ
Need a hand?
DashMic is in Free Early Access, so support is intentionally simple: tell us what happened and we’ll use real-world feedback to improve the product.
What is DashMic?
DashMic is a Tesla-first web app that follows the media already playing in an authorized Tesla and presents large synchronized lyrics in the vehicle browser. It does not replace your music app or control playback.
What Tesla access does DashMic request?
The current connection requests Tesla Vehicle Information access only. DashMic does not request Tesla’s separate Vehicle Location permission, charging-control access, or vehicle-command access for the lyrics experience, and DashMic does not query or store vehicle location.
Authorization happens through Tesla’s own sign-in flow, and Tesla credentials used by DashMic are handled server-side rather than exposed to browser JavaScript.
Does DashMic control my Tesla or my music?
No. DashMic is intentionally read-only. It reads the media state needed to synchronize the display and leaves vehicle controls and music controls alone.
Which music sources work?
Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Bluetooth have been verified in real-car testing. Preview compatibility is still being validated across vehicles, software versions, and other media sources.
Why does a song sometimes have no synchronized lyrics?
Lyric availability depends on provider repertoire and match quality. Some tracks have no synchronized version, some have only unsynchronized text, and some metadata combinations do not produce a safe match. DashMic prefers showing no lyrics over confidently showing the wrong song.
Why can timing vary between songs?
DashMic reconstructs playback timing from Tesla media state and then advances locally in the browser between updates. The underlying timed-lyrics data can also differ by song. Preview testing is being used to separate provider timestamp quality from app timing issues before public launch.
Does DashMic keep my listening history?
The current implementation does not maintain a permanent song-by-song listening-history table. It stores current media state for the active experience and privacy-conscious aggregate health metrics that exclude song titles, artist names, VINs, and location.
See the Privacy Policy for more detail.
How much will DashMic cost?
DashMic is free during Early Access and no credit card is required. Paid plans may be introduced later to help cover Tesla API, infrastructure, and lyric or licensing costs, but pricing and any founding-member benefit are not final.
Is DashMic affiliated with Tesla?
No. DashMic is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
Can I use DashMic while driving?
The lyrics display is designed for the in-car screen, but the driver remains responsible for safe and lawful vehicle operation. Do not type, configure settings, troubleshoot, or interact with DashMic in a distracting way while driving. Use a passenger when appropriate or wait until safely parked.
How do I try DashMic?
Use the Tesla connection page to authorize your Tesla account, then open Live Lyrics in the vehicle browser. Joining the email-updates list is optional and is not an access requirement.
What should I include in a bug report?
Tell us what you expected, what actually happened, which media source you were using, and roughly when it occurred. Screenshots are useful for layout issues. Do not email Tesla passwords, OAuth tokens, private keys, VINs, or other secrets.
